Computational conflict research - Using R to analyze patterns in conflicts

Course description

Quantitative research in conflict studies is of high societal interest but remains a challenging task. In this course, students are introduced to R and will tackle common problems that arise during data management processes in conflict research and learn how to present their results visually. Using prominent data sets in conflict studies, students will learn how to master R and to submit a research project with R as part of their final submission. As such, we will also present and discuss parts of the existing data basis.

The goal of this course is to provide students with guidelines for both good data management practices and data visualization.
